Libraries Week

Libraries Week

9th to 14th October 2017

Libraries Week is a chance to showcase all of the creative, innovative and diverse activities that UK libraries have to offer.  It's not just public libraries but, libraries of all kinds within colleges, schools, universities and workplaces that provide amazing services. During 9th to 14th October, go and discover the range of activities, facilities, information and library services on offer at your library.  Further information about the week can be found on the Libraries Week website.

Come and take a look at the display in the LRC, which tells you about the event, as well as a list of the main public libraries within South Yorkshire(Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield). A selection of library themed fiction books and a DVD are on display, all of which are available for you to borrow.

Black History Month

October is Black History Month, which has been marked in the UK for more than 30 years with the aim of highlighting and celebrating the achievement and contributions of the black community in the UK.

The official Black History Month website features loads of information, news and details of events taking place across the region.

You can also find out here about the incredible things that 12 women, in particular, have done for Britain.

In the LRC we have a display dedicated to Black History Month, featuring short biographies about key people, along with a number of relevant resources - please take the time to come and check this out.  All the resources on the display can be borrowed, just ask a member of staff.
