New Term - New Opening Hours

Welcome back, we hope you have all had a great half term.

As we move into a new term there has been a slight change to the LRC opening hours. 

We will be closing at 5pm (as opposed to 5.15pm) from today onwards on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Everything else remains the same as per below:-

LRC Opening Hours
Mondays: 08.15 - 17.00
Tuesdays: 08.15 - 17.00
Wednesdays: 08.15 - 16.30
Thursdays: 08.15 - 17.00
Fridays: 08.15 - 15.00

Word of the Day Story Deadline - This Monday!!

There’s still time to get your Word of the Day stories submitted. 
 
A reminder that to be in with a chance of winning £20 you need to write a 500 word short story containing all 5 Literacy Week Words of the Day (as below).

Entries must be submitted via e-mail to Emma Hadfield by Monday 19th February.

Definition: a contrast or opposition between two things

Misanthropy
Definition: hatred, dislike, or distrust of humankind

Exaltation
Definition: a feeling or state of extreme happiness

Mellifluous
Definition: a sound that is pleasingly smooth to hear

Surreptitious
Definition: done secretly, without anyone seeing or knowing

LRC Half Term Opening

The Learning Resources Centre will be open during half term for study and revision.  We will be open from 9am until 3pm each day.

Students must sign in at reception on entering the college and ensure they wear their ID cards as normal.

The Final Word of the Day...and more Dingbats

Well Literacy Week has come to an end....and it's time to collect that final Word of the Day.  So, what now??  Get writing!!!  Submit a 500 word short story containing all 5 words of the day by no later than 19th February.  The best story will receive a prize of £20.


We also have another Dingbats competition this lunchtime - one winner will be chosen at the end of the day and win £10.

Today is also the deadline for the Poetry Competition - submit your entries to the English Department to be in with a chance to win £10.

Wednesday's Word of the Day and Definitions Competition


Here's your third Word of the Day - collect just two more and get writing that short story to be in with a chance to win £20.  A reminder that short stories must be submitted by the 19th February.

Today we also have a Definitions Competition -  these will be handed out in the Courtyard and LRC throughout the day.  You have till the end of the day to get your entries in to be in with a chance of winning £10.

If you have a spare few minutes, don't forget to have a game of scrabble outside of the LRC too!

Literacy Week is Here! Monday's Word of the Day

Literacy Week has landed!! 

We will be running a variety of literacy related events and competitions throughout the week - all of which have cash prizes!

Each day we will also have a Word of the Day - collect all 5 words and write a 500 word short story to be in with a chance to win £20!  Stories must be submitted to Emma Hadfield via e-mail by the 19th February.


Today a poetry competition will also be launch in the English department.  Make sure to submit your poem by the end of the week to be in with a chance to win £10.
