Today (5th Feb) is Safer Internet Day which aims to raise awareness of how to stay safe online, focussing on various issues from cyberbullying to social networking use. This year's theme is 'online rights and responsibilities' where you are encouraged to 'connect with respect'.
Here at TRC we expect all students to be safe and responsible online and respect others and we have a number of leaflets and resources to help you with this. If you want some tips on how to stay safe online, please see the LRC display and help yourself to a free leaflet.

Happy New Year & Exam Time!
Happy New Year to everyone and welcome back to College. We hope you had a good break and enjoyed all the festivities.
But now it's back to business and ready for exams! I'm sure you have all been studying hard over the holidays, but there's still plenty of time to fit those final preparations in.
The normal opening hours for the LRC will resume today, opening at 08.15 every morning and closing at 17.15 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, giving you plenty of opportunities to visit the LRC for study and revision.
We currently have a display in the LRC providing you with a number of revision tips along with highlighting some textbooks that may help you to revise.
As always, please remember that the LRC is a study space and although stress levels may be rising, it is important to keep the noise levels to a minimum to avoid disrupting other students and their studies.
And just to finish off, the LRC team would like to wish you all Good Luck with your exams!

Remembrance Day
November brings us the Remembrance Day, which is a day to
think of fallen soldiers who have sacrificed themselves for our freedom. While
Remembrance Day is on the 11th of November, as the Armistice was
signed “on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th
month,” in the UK the second Sunday of November is known as Remembrance Sunday,
to give people opportunity to observe the significance of the Memorial Day.
In early November, many people will wear the remembrance
poppy. This symbol of remembrance was inspired by the poem “In Flanders
Fields,” by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae. Its opening line “In Flanders
fields the poppies blow” refers to the poppies that grew in Flanders Fields, a
mass grave for fallen soldiers.
In modern times, Remembrance Day is inclusive to soldiers
who have lost their lives in other wars, such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the LRC we now have a display about Remembrance Day, with
some famous war poetry, and a selection of books.
